The West Coast of Costa Rica is known for it’s consistent surf.  Right now we are in the middle of the summer or “dry season” so we have beautiful sunny days that produce consistent clean surf conditions.  Over the last week we have seen some amazing waves in the Santa Teresa area.   The beach breaks of Santa Teresa, Playa Hermosa, and Mal Pais were at their best due to a solid swell from the North/Northwest.  This particular swell direction produces perfect conditions on the West Coast of Costa Rica.

The waves for advanced surfers have been great, but there have also been perfect beginner waves.  Costa Rica is a great spot to learn to surf.  The water temperature is around 80 degrees all year and we always have waves so it is an ideal spot to try surfing.  There are many surf schools and surf shops in the Santa Teresa area so board rentals and lessons are readily available.  A lot of our vacation rentals offer private surf coaches or concierge services that can arrange board rentals and classes for you.  When you show up at your beachfront vacation home you will have everything you will need.

Surfing is not the only activity in the area.  You will find lots of things to do in the Mal Pais and Santa Teresa area including fishing, snorkeling, horse back riding, stand up paddle boarding, zip line canopy tours, and more.   All of these activities are just minutes away from our vacation rental listings so you won’t have to travel very far.
