The Floating House, or Casa Flotanta, is an architectural masterpiece located in Playa Hermosa. This 3 bedroom vacation rental has been featured in several architectural magazines including Inhabitat, Dezeen, Design Boom, World Architecture News, and Su Casa Magazine.
The Floating House is a unique modern tropical home designed by Costa Rican architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe. The house combines incredible ocean views, luxury interiors, and an infinity swimming pool, all within walking distance to the beach.
Casa Flotanta was designed to have little impact on its natural surrounds. The house is made up of three pods that float above the canopy of the jungle. The pods are connected by bridges and walkways to ensure the least amount of impact on the natural surroundings. The house also utilizes Eco portable A/C units, solar hot water, water collection and filtration systems, and energy saving LED lights.
The main living space of The Floating House is a large open area that features a chef’s kitchen and a lounge area. In addition to the comfortable couches, there is a solid teak dining table to accommodate 8 people. Just steps from the lounge area is the infinity pool that offers stunning ocean and jungle views.
The three bedrooms at the Floating House feature orthopedic mattresses, allergy-free pillows, and 100% cotton luxury sheets. Two of the bedrooms share a large open air bathroom and the third bedroom has an en suite bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a queen and a single bed, and the third bedroom has a double bed to accommodate up to 7 guests comfortably.
The Floating House is located just a short walk away from the Playa Hermosa beach. With its white sandy beach and consistent waves, Playa Hermosa is known as one of the best in the area.
